“After some discussion I have decided to reconfigure the parishes of Dundee city. This reconfiguration now couples the parish of the Immaculate Conception, Lochee, with the parish of St Clement’s, Charleston.” 

The Mass schedule will therefore have to be changed, beginning on Saturday 23rd August as follows:

• Vigil Mass Saturday evening at 4.30pm Immaculate Conception, Lochee
• Mass Sunday morning at 9.30am St Clement’s, Charleston
• Mass Sunday morning at 11am Immaculate Conception, Lochee
• Weekday Masses at 10am at Immaculate Conception, Lochee

Bishop Andrew added, “I have made this change to better provide for the celebration of Mass across Dundee, based on the number of priests available to cover. I wish to thank Fr Johney Raphael for his ministry in St Clement’s and Fr Jim Walls for his willingness to assist with this new arrangement.”

I wish to thank both communities. for their understanding and cooperation as this change of arrangement settles in.

A Bill that is to be debated in the House of Commons later this month (Friday 29 November) that would legalise assisted suicide in this country.

There are also useful resources on the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales Website – it is extremely important that concerned citizens write to their MP to make their voice known. This vote could go either way, and we know that MPs are getting many letters from the assisted suicide lobby.

We hope the resources we have produced are useful. Please do include a note about them in the parish newsletter and encourage people to contact their MP.

For parishes in Scotland, note that while the Bill may not apply directly in Scotland, Scottish MPs have a vote, and the results of this vote will have a great impact on the debate over a similar Bill in Holyrood. So it is important that Scots contact their Westminster MP to oppose this dangerous proposal.
